Sports in Barcelona

Introduction

One of the first things that come to mind is the football club Barcelona FC, which has a roster of amazing players and a magnificent ground. However, football isn't the only sport to keep you on the edge of your seat, as Barcelona's sports legacy has been made up with several huge events, one major example being the 1992 Olympics, which brought a lot of attention to the city.

Basketball is becoming one of the most popular sports around in Barcelona and enjoys a loyal fan base captivated with the displays of skill and showmanship. If you are interested in the game you can find it all going on down at the Palau Blaugrana; with a few championship titles under their belts, the Barcelona basketball team is worth checking out.

Another alternative is the impressive ATP World Tour 500 series (the name is a mouthful in itself). It's one of the major sporting events for tennis and showcases some of the best talents to grace the courts. If you prefer something with a bit more horse power then make a point of checking out the formula one Circuit de Catalunya.

If the weather is getting a tad cold then you can check out some of the unique winter sports that are on offer and this comes in the form of ice skating. An additional activity is the skiing resorts and especially the Spanish Pyrenees resorts.
