It is the captial of Spain and for good reason, as wherever you go you will find a diverse layout of areas, all of which incorporate their own individuality. It has a really busy and electric energy to it and is the very center of Spain. You soon realise that although there are some beautiful pieces of architecture, the local madrileños haven't forgotten how to party.

The options before you are endless as even a walk down the still youthful Gran Via or perhaps a stroll through Plaza Mayor will put you right into the action. Don't miss out on the chance to visit the golden triangle (Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen-Bornemisza), right down the street from the Retiro park. Finally, if you're in the mood for the theatrical skill then you can't go wrong with Teatro Real.

If you want to see how the locals really party then the 'San antonio de la Florida Festival' will be for you and is held in June. If you fancy a bite to eat then rest assured that Madrid will take care of you.
