Madrid has always wanted to keep themselves at the top of the pile for film makers short list, they created the 'Madrid film comission' it provides all the information that a producer would need. There are some great places to appreciate the feature around Madrid for example (Angelika Cinema Lounge) where you can get a great drink with some of the better films around. You'll also be pleased to know you can get some cheap tickets for the theatre. In the Plaza del Carmen there is a last minute box office for two hours before certain productions.

Nightlife

  • Joy Eslava is a popular club amongst students from Erasmus and all around. It is located on one of the main strips of Sol, which only adds to its popularity. It starts all the way back in 1981when Joy first opened its door.
  • Kapital is known vividly by all who live in the area of Madrid but it's also well- known throughout the country. It's a superclub with seven floors, each boasting different vibes, styles of music, etc.
  • Pacha brings a smile to anyone who has partied at any of its locations throughout the world. It has a very smooth and impressive style that plays some of the best displays of dance music around.

Independent film theatres include

  • Filmoteca de Madrid La Enana Marrón. During 1892-1936 a lot of development occured within Spanish theatre productions but a lot of it was focused on aspects of Madrid. You can see the theatre originate from the golden age which is home to (Lope de Vega and Calderon de la Barca).
  • Teatro de la Comedia
  • Circulo de Bellas Artes

Music and Dancing

Dance is also very popular as you can find yourself in a flamenco or salsa club quite easily. Flamenco dancing originates in Andalusia breaking through as prime entertainment in the 19th century. Coming in the forms fandangos, canto grandes, the guitar is also a very popular partner of the dance.

Salsa dancing is also a vibrant exploraton of one's physical and emotional talents. It originates from the Caribbean and the cultural and linguistic links between Spain and the Caribbean have helped to make salsa dancing very popular in Spain as well. There are many forms of salsa. Needless to say some fiery footwork is needed as they work togetehr to create a demonstrartion of flexibility and creativity. Even if you dont feel brave enough to get involved you should check it out and watch in wonder!

If you're looking for some music then you can find a great choice of opera; just head to Teatro Pradillo or Teatro Real, both excellent performance venues. The Teatro Real really stands out and provides a genuine treat for the eyes... even before the show begins!
