Introduction

As most people in spain Madrileños take their food serious and it is a large part of the cultural identity to which they adhere to, you can get by only on the generous tapas that is served with drinks, museo de Jamon's are a popular stop off for a snack or even stocking up on some of your favourite delicacies, either way take a look below and get to know some of the great gastronomy available.

Cocido Madrileño (A stew) Saints bones, don't panic they aren't real but instead marzipan that is filled with a selection of sweet delights dusted with sugar, get the tastebuds ready for the delights of torrijas! They are very similar to french toast and certainly go down a treat.

For a real taste of the culture head to one of several tabernas which combine a lively atmosphere that is brimming with a traditional style. there is Fabada (beans, bacon, sausage and ham) Pollo Ajillo (delicious baked chicken that has a generous splash of white wine infusing the captivating flavour) Cocido, (leek, cabbage, potatoes, turnip, carrot, sausage, chicken and ham.

In some restaurants you will get a plate of tapas with the drink you ordered a good example of this is El Tigre which serves a generous portion that after two plates is your meal for the night sorted. Try the Jamon Iberica and Queso. With drinks you won't go wrong with the red wines and sangria, they are also good with coffees e.g. the strong cafe solo.
