Introduction

In regards to food and drink in Pamplona you will spoilt for choice and this is because they are relatively close to the coast and at the same time verging towards the border to France for a real mixture of cultural cuisine! So expect to find a number of combinations that include the fresh vegetables to compliment what you decide on.

Some of this natural produce includes pears, artichokes, red peppers and mushrooms, the cuisine in this area is classed as 'Basque' and one of the main (and let's be honest most fun way) is to try tapas which will be known as Pintxos. For those in search of a challenge you will have to step up to what is known as 'Chuletones de buey/deternera, this is a huge steak of ox or veal, river trout or salmon that is filled with ham for a great blend of flavours.

If wine is your game then róse seems to be the winner though both red and white wine are excellent, an addition to the meal is Leche frita a custard based dish, or there is pacharán which is a great alternative to a dessert.
