Food and Drink in Salamanca
Introduction
If you have hunger on your mind then Salamanca will become your new best friend as there is a huge selection ready for you to dive right in, so lets get started with one of their most well known dishes and Morucha meat which is used in several meals and is slightly darker than normal which provides a unique and delightful taste. If that hasn't caught your attention not to worry as there is more! Next is a vegetarian option that will make the tastebuds dance, with the name kept simple 'Lentils of the Armuña' it gives a exquisite taste and is optionally cooked with sausages for a twist to the flavour.
One of the favourites of many locals is hornazo, it is pie with the garlic sausages, pig meat, bacon and eggs which gets the mind running and typically eaten on 'Monday of waters'. Most will be familar with Jamon Serrano which is a popular meat throughout all of Spain though you can be sure that you can try some of the highest quality cured pig meat, delicious!
For dessert, almonds is a familiar face that is ued in many dishes and examples of this are amarguillos which are almond cookies. Lastly for your drink the wine on offer is top class which has everything from hearty reds to dry whites and if you want to know the best origins are Sierra de Salamanca and Ribera del Duero.
