Food and Drink in Tenerife

Enforex

Introduction

Due to its location away from main stream Spain you find Tenerife mixing a variety of cooking influences to create a unique palet of flavour. Due to the warm climate you will generally find light meals and tenerife has an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables that will bring some colour to your meals.

One of the reognizable additions to my meal are the Gofio which is used to thicken up stews and create a delicious set of dishes. There is also a selection of vegetarian dishes which include Sopa de Garbanzas which is a chickpea soup containing a simple mix of ingredients though it can be made with meat so be cautious before you order. Fish is also a popular dish with salted varients such as Jareas and Tollos, along with the mixture of vegetables creates a brilliant dish. For the other side of the market there is a wide range of meats such as rabbit and beef. They are included in dishes such as en Salmorejo (A cold soup that includes Tomatos and with Serrano Ham)
