There are many things that can be said to describe the character of Valencia, on the one hand you have the modern and simply breathtaking La Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias but also the unwinding beach that allows you mind to drift. It is certainly a slower tempo in comparison to places like the capital Madrid and has a healthy mixture of integration from other backrounds. Being next to the coast you can expect it to be toasty all year around with temperatures reaching almost 30c in the winter months!

Though after you have seen the beauty of the beach what to do next? Well for starters when you head down towards la Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias you won't be venturing far from the Palau de la Musica, it is just as impressive in the day with the sun radiating from the glass dome as at night. It host many terrific pieces of music and drama and head there just before a show and you might be able to pick up a bargain ticket!

For an activity that caters to all ages you should check out the Valencia Aquarium which contains a huge diversity of sealife including the bottle nosed dolphin that appeared in flipper, if your appetite starts to flare up on your travels then your in the right area because Valencia is famous for paella and the dish originates from here. So whether you have a taster or get involved in some of the huge pans of paella you won't be disappointed.

It can contain several ingredients rice or pasta, rabit and chicken is popular and seafood is always a fan favourite, there are other dishes waiting to tease your tastebuds so be sure to check out the food and drink section.
