Immersion Spain
Immersion in Spain is a two-fold experience. On one hand, the constant exposure to the Spanish language provides you with an unparalleled linguistic experience while, on the other hand, being in another country means experiencing first-hand the unique facets of its culture. Keeping both the linguistic and the cultural aspects in mind at all times, we aim to give our students the opportunity to experience the best of both worlds.
First off, if you opt for Spanish immersion in Spain, you are clearly interested in studying Spanish and improving your linguistic skills. Needless to say, Spain provides the ideal conditions for in-depth Spanish language studies:
- You will have millions of native Spanish-speakers to learn from and practice with.
- You can take advantage of the genuine Spanish-speaking environment surrounding you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- You will have constant opportunities to listen to and read in Spanish thanks to Spanish-language media: tv shows, radio programs, newspapers, magazines, movies...
- You will be able to learn, practice and gain experience in a variety of contexts: ordering meals in a restaurant, requesting a half-kilogram of sliced cheese in the supermarket, asking for directions to the bus stop...
Secondly, you will be spending your time immersed in a new place and culture. Really getting to know the culture of your target language provides you with an in-depth understanding and appreciation that you simply cannot get from a book, as you will be able to:
- Discover a wealth of historic sights, unique architecture, landmarks...
- Visit all sorts of cultural venues: theatres, museums, music venues, exhibitions...
- Experience the local lifestyle: nightlife, markets, bars, unique neighborhoods...
- Get involved in the local culture: take flamenco lessons, see if any festivals are going on...
- Learn about the local history; in Spain it goes back centuries and centuries!
- Sample the cuisine... don't be scared to try new things!
